How To Come Up With Viral Real Estate Content Ideas

March 07, 20253 min read

If you’re looking to make viral real estate content, it all starts with having a strategic approach. The key is not just posting more but creating content that resonates, engages, and spreads.

Here’s the thought process and method we use to craft content that gets attention and delivers results.

1. Scroll with Purpose

We all spend time scrolling through Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, but there’s a big difference between mindless scrolling and scrolling with intention. When you're consuming content, you should be doing it with two specific goals in mind:

Identify Engaging Content: Pay attention to posts that make you laugh, inspire you, or hold your attention. If it resonates with you, chances are it will resonate with others.

Find Ways to Apply It to Real Estate: Don’t dismiss a viral video just because it doesn’t directly relate to real estate. Instead, ask yourself: How can I adapt this concept for my business?

To stay organized, create a saved folder on Instagram or TikTok where you can store these ideas. That way, you have a library of inspiration to refer back to when it’s time to create.

2. Develop Your Ideas at Peak Energy Times

Once you have a collection of video concepts, set aside focused time to brainstorm and refine these ideas. The timing matters:

If content creation is second nature to you, you might be able to do this at the end of the day.

If generating ideas is more challenging, do this first thing in the morning or after your coffee—when your brain is firing on all cylinders.

The key is to work during a time when you have the most creative energy. Then, take these concepts and tie them into what’s happening in your business that week.

3. Apply Trends in Real-Time

One of the most effective ways to create viral content is by riding the wave of an existing trend. Here’s an example:

When Drake’s viral drone video came out, we immediately saw an opportunity. A friend shared the idea with us, and we asked: How can we apply this concept to our listings?

We had a launch party coming up, so we replicated the concept. Instead of showing Drake placing bets on his computer, we had the drone fly past a poster announcing the event. Simple, effective, and timely.

The lesson here? If you see a viral trend that aligns with your business, jump on it fast. The closer you post your version to the original viral moment, the better.

4. Keep It Simple & Leverage Existing Content Formulas

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel to make great content. Many of the best-performing videos aren’t high production or overly edited—they just follow a proven format.

For example, we applied the viral Krispy Kreme Postmates video to a real estate listing.

The original video showed a delivery from a first-person POV. We copied that.

The original had a customer asking the delivery person to place the food on a table. We mirrored that action.

The original included a joke: “Let me give you a tip.” We used the exact same line and added details about our listing.

By following an existing formula, we were able to create an engaging real estate video with minimal effort. The best part? These types of videos appear super creative when in reality, they’re just strategic adaptations of already viral content.

Final Thoughts

The key to making viral real estate content isn’t about coming up with completely new ideas—it’s about recognizing patterns, leveraging trends, and adapting engaging content to fit your niche.

To recap:

✅ Scroll with purpose—find engaging content and figure out how to apply it to real estate.

✅ Save content ideas so you have inspiration ready when needed.

✅ Work at peak energy times to develop and refine your ideas.

✅ Ride trends in real-time—the sooner you jump on a trend, the better.

✅ Keep it simple—use existing video formulas to make content creation easier.
